When Winnipeg’s unions come together to support United Way, amazing things happen.
Join Winnipeg’s unions to kick off United Way Winnipeg’s Campaign for 2022 by taking part in Walk This Way and joining ‘Team Solidarity’!
Union members can join the team and help walk, roll, ride and stroll to our collective team goal of 1919 kilometres. Through solidarity and collective action, we can show the impact of Winnipeg’s labour movement when we join together to get things done.
It gets even better—if all Walk This Way teams collectively reach a grand total of 100,000 kilometres, this year’s sponsors will donate an additional $100,000 to United Way Winnipeg. So, join Team Solidarity to help us reach our 1919 target, and then help us go above and beyond to reach the bigger collective goal.
Together, we can do this!
Walk This Way officially runs from Sunday, September 11 through Friday, September 16. During this week, you can track your kilometres travelled through our digital system to help reach our goals.
How do I register?
Registering for Walk This Way is easy as 1-2-3!
To register on your phone:
- Download the MoveSpring app for iPhone or Android, and create a new account with the code “UWay2022”.
- Agree to the terms and conditions; enter the name of your union; enter your name and email; choose a username/update your profile picture; then tap “Continue”.
- Now, you will be taken to the Walk This Way 2022 dashboard. Tap the button that says “Join or create a team” under Challenges, and search for “Team Solidarity”. Tap the button that says “Join Team”.
To register on your computer:
- Visit unitedwaywinnipeg.ca/walk-this-way-2022 and click “Register Now!”, and you’ll be taken to the MoveSpring website to create an account. You should see “UWay2022” on your screen. Leave this as-is, then click “Sign up”.
- Agree to the terms and conditions; enter the name of your union; enter your name and email; choose a username/update your profile picture; then click “Continue”.
- Now, you will be taken to the Walk This Way 2022 dashboard. Click the button that says “Join a team”, and search for “Team Solidarity”. Click the button that says “Join Team”.
How do I track my steps after I register?
- You can manually add your steps tapping the “Add an activity” button at the top of your dashboard, and calculate how far you’ve gone on each day.
- You can sync your account directly to your phone, Fitbit or Apple Watch and have your movements added automatically. To sync, simply tap the “Profile” button in the bottom right of your app, and then tap the gear icon in the top right to access your settings. From there, scroll down and tap “Connect a device”, where you can now add your preferred tracker.
